What is Class Dojo?
A website that acts as an online classroom where students, teachers and parents connect.
What is Class Dojo for?
Different schools may use ClassDojo for all or only some of its features. For example I used it to share weekly photos with parents on my ‘class story’ and to award ‘Dojo’ points, but it is now also used by students at my school to upload work. Students upload different types of files and a ‘Portfolio’ is created which can be scrolled through by parent, student or teacher.
What are some things that can be confusing about Class Dojo?
One family may be provided with parent access and one or more students accounts
Many ways to connect to student accounts can be confusing
No username/password access for students (they will either need their QR code, the url or a new access code)
Access codes expire after 48 hours
Why Class Dojo is worth it:
Children love the randomized monster characters they get for their profile icon
Easy way to share photos, videos and get comments from teacher
Can be used flexibly depending on the needs of the school and the student
There is an app (which allows easier switching between parent and student account)
Useful for teachers to track students remote learning
LOTS of written and video support at their ‘ZenDesk’
The Class Dojo team truly care about our children - read about why I think so here!
Overall I would advise struggling parents to stick with it as Class Dojo is very simple once you get all your access sorted. Read their instructions carefully and follow them even if they seem strange. Be proactive and check if the answer to your issue is in their ZenDesk before giving up!
