Boom Learning is a website where teachers create educational task cards for kids that are fun and interactive.

You can play Boom Cards from the Boom Learning website or through the Boom Cards app.

The Boom Cards app is free and to get started with interactive Boom Cards you'll just need to sign up for a free account first.

Boom Cards App

The Boom Cards app is available for Apple and Android devices and for Kindle Fire:

What's the difference between the website and the app?

I have found that playing boom cards on a touchscreen device is much more child-friendly and enjoyable and I think kids would prefer to use their tablet or mobile because they'll feel like they're having a much more interactive and gamified experience.

Advantages of using the Boom Cards app:

  • On the Boom Cards app, the cards fill most of the screen which means that text and images on the cards are bigger and clearer and also that there are fewer distractions.

  • Using the app on touchscreen devices means that even young children can tap, drag and drop, match and fill in gaps

  • The app is designed for tablets and mobile devices which are smaller, lighter and more portable than laptops or desktop computers and therefore better for children

  • Since tablets and mobiles are portable, you could play Boom Cards anywhere that you can get an internet connection.

Here's a video of me playing some Boom Cards on an iPad with the Boom cards app:

Here's me playing the same Boom cards on the computer through the Boom Learning website:

How to use Boom Cards App

Before you begin, you'll need to create a Boom Learning teacher account or sign in with a Google account as a teacher on a computer. Once you are signed in on the computer, browse the store and add Boom Cards that you want your child to play to your Library.

Still on the computer, choose the Boom Cards you'd like your child to play first from your Library and click on the Action drop-down menu and tap on Fast Pin and then click on Generate. Make a note of the pin number that is shown.

Now you will need to download the app from your app store (see links above) onto the device that you want your child to use to play. Now all you need to do to play is open the app, tap on FastPlay and enter the pin that you wrote down.
